Getting High in Nepal
A couple of months ago we had built two floors of our house in Nepal for our beneficiary family.
Now, we are heading higher.
In the town of Bhaktapur, where we have been helping families since 2016 (the Gorkha earthquake destroyed 650,000 homes in Nepal in 2015), the building lots are narrow, so we build up: a few stories, with a roof terrace.
That’s what the families want.
The photo above is actually of the side of the house. The front is around to the right. That little access-door that you can see will get sealed up when the neighbors build on the lot closer to us. :)
Here is the front of the house--with front door and window frames.
Work is progressing smoothly under the watchful eyes of our full-time, local project manager. She is doing a great job. She reports in every day, after her workday, which is morning for us. We go over the day’s progress, expenditures, material purchases, and any problems.
MicroAid is obviously helping the beneficiary families, but because we use only local labor and materials, we are helping the greater community, as well.
Pay-day at the worksite is always a happy day.
Everyone, from the workers to the beneficiary families, knows that MicroAid is made up of individual donors, like you, who make it all possible.
Thank you.
As they say in Nepal, Namaste!
