MICROAID’s effort to humanize the flow of assistance from Americans to those in need begins at the point when large international NGOs are phasing out and refocusing their efforts elsewhere. MICROAID steps in after the emergency response and immediate relief issues of a disaster have been addressed, but the long-term recovery is still going on. At this time, enormous numbers of people remain unassisted and without the means to reintegrate with their community. Rather than seek continual expansion, MICROAID intends to keep our effort focused and personal, while inspiring others to undertake similar efforts. MICROAID identifies, addresses, and stays focused on the continuing needs of distressed people as they rebuild their lives and attempt to rejoin the economic and social activities of the community.
